Six Months is Outrageous and Unacceptable

In August of 2010 my family moved to an area that is not serviced by Comcast, and I cancelled our service on the 17th for account 09507 608468-02-9. All equipment was returned, and I received a billing stating I had a credit for $119.65.

In October I emailed the company to ask for a check, and received a reply verifying the credit balance, and stating it could be six to eight weeks before I received my money back, (at this point, it was four days shy of eight weeks from cancellation.) I also received an "issue number" of 1691513, which is meaningless, as far as I can tell.

Fast forward to January, 2011, still no refund. An online chat with Leonard was completely useless - it took a very long time and much typing of reassurances that he understood completely to give me an 800 number to billing "for updates regarding the refund and to be processed right away."

Six months is outrageous and unacceptable. I did not agree to loan Comcast any money. I really believe a class action law suit is in order here. Think of the interest Comcast is making on other people's money!

What Should Have Comcast Done Instead?

They should have issued a refund check within three to four weeks. It shouldn't be difficult at all, for a company that touts its superior electronic capabilities
